I stopped by while visiting family in Lexington, NC. I was more than surprised to learn about the local history, as well as how Lexington has changed the face of the nation. There are so many interesting exhibits, and absolutely unique artifacts that you would only expect in a national gallery. The building itself is a fantastic piece of history that will transport you to a bygone era. You can almost hear the footsteps of the townsfolk hurrying into a packed courtroom, as you walk past the burn marks in the hardwood floors, where men stamped out their cigarettes before entering the room.
excellent place to visit
This is a perfect outing and best part it’s free.
Nice old historic building with lots of history.
This is by far the best small town museum. With knowledgeable staff that will answer any question you have.
Great little museum downtown, across from a coffee shop. Nice place to stop on a road trip. We saw the court room up stairs and saw nice exhibits on local history on the first floor. Staff is very welcoming.
I will absolutely recommend this museum to everyone passing through Lexington, or even to the locals that live in this “diamond in the rough” town. I myself stop by every time I’m in town, and always discover something new.
Great local history. Took my kids (10 and 5 years old) and we had a great time.
